About Bev Patterson

Bev has worked in the area of Professional Standards and Child Protection over a period of thirty years.

She has gained wide experience in the area of Child Abuse and Child Protection whilst working with at-risk families in both government and non-government agencies. After working in a Social Work position in Catholic primary schools in Brisbane she was employed by Brisbane Catholic Education as their Child Protection Officer to assist in writing Child Protection Policy and to implement a Child Protection Program within all Brisbane Catholic Education Schools. Following this she held the position of Child and Youth Protection Officer for the Christian Brothers Xavier Province (Queensland, N.T., East Timor). She has presented papers at National and International Conferences on Child Abuse and Neglect.

Bev has been a member of Professional Standards Advisory committees for the Christian Brothers and Marist Brothers in Australia and is a current member the Catholic Church National Committee for Professional Standards. She has tertiary qualifications in Community Welfare, Arts (Social Science) and Social Work with post graduate studies in Family Therapy.

Bev has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to Child Protection within the education industry, receiving a State award for this. She is passionately committed to the prevention of child abuse and has written programs and policies with a risk management focus and served as a member of advisory committees for prevention programs and the formulation of policy and guidelines.
